Attorneys Seeking Assistance Form: COVID-19 Pro Bono Support Needs
PLEASE NOTE: This form is intended for attorneys seeking assistance from law students. It is not intended for people who are in need of an attorney. Because we are students– not licensed attorneys– we are not able to act as your attorney. If you are looking for an attorney to help you, we encourage you to start by contacting the legal aid office in your area.

Who We Are:
We are a loosely organized group of law students, paralegals, and paralegal students* interested in providing pro bono support for attorneys working on client matters related to COVID-19. This project is not currently affiliated with any university or larger organization.

Who We Help:
We can provide support to you if you are a practicing attorney, your project can be completed remotely,** and it involves a matter related to COVID-19. Some examples of these matters include:
-research around paid leave and work from home policies
-drafting bail motions for clients with concerns about being exposed to the virus in custody
-drafting responses to eviction proceedings on behalf of clients facing financial impacts of COVID-19
-compiling a list of local and/or national resources for people seeking assistance
-translating documents for clients

How it Works:
Each day, we will reach out to our listserv of 3000+ law students, paralegals, and paralegal students standing ready to help you out with your project. Students will sign up for projects on a first-come, first-served basis. The student who signs up for your project will reach out to you directly via your listed contact email to offer services. Once you've determined the student who has contacted you is a fit, please contact me at aleader@live.unc.edu so that I may remove your need from the list. (Should you fail to contact me, you will likely continue to receive emails from eager students.)

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me, Alyssa Leader, at aleader@live.unc.edu. I will do my best to respond promptly.

* This project does not have the capacity to ensure the student status of all participants. Attorneys should take care to ensure that the quality of volunteers' work in order to adhere with their jurisdiction's rules of professional responsibility.
** For the safety of all participants and in the interest of stopping the spread of COVID-19, please do not require or request that volunteers meet with you or with clients. All work should be completed remotely.
Note: This project does not offer malpractice insurance, nor does UNC Law, the organizer's university.
