NWS Portland Email Briefing Feedback - 2023
Greetings partners! We're looking for some feedback on our daily weather briefing emails that we send out as we revise the format to make them more consistent. Additionally, the pdf emails can become pretty lengthy at times due to multi-faceted weather events, and we're looking for ways to better streamline the information you use on a daily basis.

We appreciate your honest answers as this will help drive our services as we head into our 2023-2024 wet season! If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to email Treena Jensen, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, at treena.jensen@noaa.gov

What decisions do you make based on the information in the email briefings?
Here is an example of a partner email with standard sections. Please rank the usefulness of each section appropriately.  *

1. Key Points
2. Changes from Previous Briefing
3. Weather Risk Outlook
The detail section is the most time-consuming section to compose and often becomes very wordy, especially when dealing with multiple weather events. We're curious how important these details are to your operations.  *

Using the photos from the previous two questions, please describe how you use each section of the email (Key Points, Changes from Previous Briefing, Weather Risk Outlook, and Details). *
On the Weather Risk Outlook matrix, we are creating standard locations that will always be listed on the matrix. If there are no weather risks forecast for a location, it will remain on the matrix colored green for "no risk". Here is a basic map of the proposed locations. We plan on adding a link to a finalized map in the "For More Information" section at the bottom of the email briefing so that you can always find where your area of concern falls on the Weather Risk Outlook matrix. *

Do you have any additional feedback on the proposed locations for the Weather Risk Outlook matrix?
We have begun to regularly include probabilistic forecast info into our briefings. We can do this in the details section via short text blurb (ex: 60-90% probability of at least 2 inches of rain along the coast) and/or attach a graphical map (example below). Which do you prefer?

Looking at the forecast graphic in the previous question, are there any additional cities/towns you would like to be plotted? (Please note we may not be able to add every city/town based on the number of requests in order to maintain the readability of the graphics.)
Besides our partner emails and webinars, what other sources do you use to gather weather information for decision making? (NWS website, phone app, other weather websites etc)
Any other comments, feedback, or concerns you'd like to share with us?
