Maine CDC Healthcare Epidemiology's mission is to protect patients/residents by preventing healthcare-associated infections and the proliferation of antimicrobial resistant organisms.  The mission is enacted by responding, analyzing, educating, and preventing. Response is by working with healthcare facilities to prepare for and evaluate any potential public health concerns.  We analyze by reviewing statewide data.  Prevention is through partnership and collaboration with state stakeholders and individual facilities.  Education is provided to leadership and frontline workers by developing, promoting, and supporting infection prevention and control educational content in various formats.  All of this is offered in a free and non-regulatory process for HAI/AR improvement and readiness activities.
