2021 Cooks Lake Youth Deer Hunt Application
Each year, a special youth only deer hunt takes place on the first full weekend of December on the Cooks Lake Unit of Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife Refuge near Casscoe, AR. Only 5 youth between 6 and 15 years of age are selected to participate in the hunt. Those selected for past hunts are not eligible to participate again as this is a one-time hunting opportunity. Each selected participant must be accompanied by a chaperon that cannot possess a firearm.  Youths who have completed hunter education must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old.  Youths who have not completed hunter education must be under the direct supervision of an adult at least 21 years old. All participating youths must have a customer identification number in order to check a deer. Ground blinds and/or permanent stands  will be provided and installed by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Refuge staff. Due to the current pandemic, extra pre- cautions will be taken to ensure the safety of staff and participants. All social distancing guidelines will be followed.

There is no charge for this event. Applications must be received by October 31, 2021.

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS)/Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) Potlatch Conservation Education Center at Cook's Lake Youth Deer Hunt

Thank you for applying to participate in USFWS/AGFC Cook's Lake Youth Deer Hunt, at the Potlatch Conservation Education Center at Cook's Lake in Casscoe, Arkansas. This year’s hunt will occur on Saturday, December 4, 2021 and conclude at sunset on Sunday, December 5, 2021.  Youth that are selected must attend a mandatory orientation program prior to the hunt. This orientation will likely be virtual.  

The following application will be used to gather information and build the application pool for the program. Answering these questions honestly will help us learn from and improve this event over time.
