Orientation to DB101

This course will provide you with more details about Disability Benefits 101, or DB101, a key tool to support you in helping people plan for benefits and work.

You will be introduced to DB101’s articles on benefits and work incentives; its quick, simple try-it tools; and its more in-depth benefits planning estimators. You will also explore how DB101 can be used with the people you support. See the level 2 learning objectives.

Who is this course for?
This course is designed for professionals who support people with disabilities in making informed choices about work, like special education teachers, case managers, vocational rehabilitation counselors and employment service providers.

Learning components:

  • “Orientation to DB101” e-learning (approximately 35 minutes)
    – Introduction (5 minutes)
    – Articles (10 minutes)
    – Try-it Tools (8 minutes)
    – Estimators (8 minutes)
  • Related resources, including the SSI scenario worksheet, Getting Started checklist, and School and work scenario worksheet (see below)

Course requirements
This course will take about 35 minutes to complete and requires the ability to view PDF documents and watch and listen to online videos (see below).
