“April showers bring May flowers” can inspire leaders to create an environment fostering “growth” and opportunity for employees to “blossom”! With many ways to do that, consider the whole person all the time - and specifically in May (Mental Health Awareness month). This article by Jennifer Liu offers guidance for how managers can support team members. People leaders will learn a lot by attending Staying Steady and/or watching the Balanced You eLearning! May is also Asian Pacific American History Month, and you can find information from the Smithsonian that includes audio and video resources in order to grow awareness and action at work and our communities.

Managers should provide their employees real time feedback regularly to improve their job performance. Managers can provide two types of feedback: constructive feedback and positive feedback. Constructive feedback is based on a specific area that can be improved. Positive feedback recognizes and praises employees for their excellent work. By the end of the course, you'll have a process for giving feedback to your employees, best practices for feedback and key employee feedback tips.
