What Is Newsprint?

In a mechanical pulp mill, newsprint is made from pine, fir, spruce, or other softwood trees. The trees are debarked and chipped before being turned into wood pulp.

Publishers and printers like to use newsprint because it is cheap to make, strong and can accept four-color printing at qualities that meet the needs of typical newspapers.

Create your own fun and colorful abstract art with rolled newspaper. This would make a fun craft to celebrate Earth Day! Grab our free printable craft project below to get started.
