The City of Boulder, in partnership with the state’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic program, will continue to offer free vaccine clinics through Sept. 19. Clinics will be held on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. at the Main Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave., in the Canyon Theater. Those attending the clinics should enter the north side of the building near Canyon Boulevard. Spanish language interpreters will be available at each clinic.
“We have been able to distribute roughly 600 COVID-19 vaccine doses at our clinics, and continue to see demand,” said Housing and Human Services Department Manager Elizabeth Crowe. “The city remains committed to eliminating barriers for those that wish to receive the vaccine. At this back-to-school time, we especially encourage families and students ages 12 -19 to get vaccinated, to help protect our young people and community.”
The clinics are 100% free and no insurance, ID or pre-registration is required, however those that prefer to schedule a time can reserve one in advance. Both the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine and the two-dose Pfizer vaccine will be available. Individuals receiving the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are considered fully vaccinated after two weeks. Those who opt for Pfizer are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose in the two-dose series.
The clinics will offer both first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Those who have already received the first dose should be aware of the recommended three-week window between the first and second doses and should bring their vaccination card with them to the clinic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises that both doses of the vaccine series be completed with the same product.
All community members are invited to the clinics, including families with children ages 12+. COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and help protect people from serious illness and the Delta variant. As of Aug. 14, about 81% of eligible Boulder County residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and about 75% have received a full vaccine course.
