ALSC Early Childhood Programs and Services Trauma Survey

The Early Childhood Programs and Services Committee is currently planning a project focusing on trauma in relation to library services for families with young children birth to 6 or families who are expecting. For the purposes of this survey, refer to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's definition of trauma, which describes it as the result of “an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.” (https://www.samhsa.gov/trauma-violence)
