2021 Veteran Friendly Volunteer of the Year

PRESENTED TO: The [non-veteran] Michigan volunteer who demonstrates outstanding service and impact to veteran/military community, and/or veteran organizations, through the giving of their time, passion, and heart to a cause(s), ultimately serving those men and women who’ve served each of us.

PURPOSE: To recognize and honor an individual non-veteran volunteer, whose selfless dedication of time and purpose positively impacts the lives of the veteran/veteran-family within their community(ies) and/or the state at large.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Position must be non-paid.
• Must have strong volunteer characteristics that could include: dependability, flexibility, initiative, cooperation and positive interaction with others.
• Goes above and beyond to make a positive impact on veterans and/or their families within the agency that they serve or the veteran community at large.
• Non-Veteran.
• Must have significant community service, civic engagement, and/or volunteer work that supports the veteran/military community and/or the citizenry at large. “Significant” is at the discretion of the submitter.
• Must reside in Michigan.
• Submissions should include detailed examples and/or data, to the extent possible, on the nominee’s efforts toward the outcomes of the award’s purpose.

This program is administered by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. Anyone can nominate candidates for this award, but the nominee must meet the eligibility criteria. Submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel. The award recipient will be honored at the Michigan Military & Veterans Gala on Nov 06, 2021, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
