2021 Educational Veteran Advocate of the Year

PRESENTED TO: The educational representative that best demonstrates commitment and dedication to outstanding service for student veterans.

PURPOSE: To recognize and honor an individual whose continued service to student veterans in higher education positively impacts the academic experience for military-connected students, setting an example for other institutions to follow.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Veteran certifying officer/ Veteran Program Director.
• Must be a Veteran Certifying Officer/ Veteran Program Director or other similar position at a Veteran Friendly School.
• Must be with their VFS for a minimum of 7 months at the time of award.
• Must show innovative work to increase the services and supports for veteran students.
• Submissions should include detailed examples and/or data, to the extent possible, on the nominee’s efforts toward the outcome of the award’s purpose.

This program is administered by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. Anyone can nominate candidates for this award, but the nominee must meet the eligibility criteria. Submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel. The award recipient will be honored at the Michigan Military & Veterans Gala on Nov 06, 2021, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
