Since the beginning, art has been part of CHAT’s core programs and services – from art classes for kids in our after-school tutoring and summer camps to creating public art for the community. This year alone, despite the challenges of the pandemic, we have had our student art exhibited at a national conference and have unveiled a new public art project with two dynamic art pieces. Our students received online music lessons throughout this entire time and were engaged in theater classes.

We're creating a book to spotlight the work of our artists. It will include some of the art and bios, and photos of the artists. The book, titled “Reflections from Refuge,” is a compilation of some of the vibrant and diverse art that our artists have created recently. The artwork found in this book is a collection of paintings created by CHAT Academy students. Each piece was inspired by their love for the land they left behind and the new home they are settling in, giving a unique look into their experiences.

The book is an awareness piece about the immigrant and refugee community, CHAT's community engagement, collaborations created to serve immigrants and refugees, and the volunteering/internship opportunities available for the students who attend local colleges and universities. The book is expected to be completed later this summer.

We invite our friends and supporters and art lovers everywhere to help us by sponsoring this project. The goal is to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of printing and designing 250 books, as well as funding art classes for our CHAT Academy students. The more money we raise, the more we can provide our students and their families.

Gold level: $5,000

Bronze level: $1,000
Our bronze-level sponsors will receive the following:

Friends: $100 minimum
