The nonfiction selection for All Alexandria Reads 2024 is Brave the Wild River, which tells the story of pioneering women botanists. Join with local Virginia Master Naturalists (ARMN Chapter) for a local expedition to learn about some of the trees in Old Town Alexandria. The tree walk will begin and end at the Barrett Branch Library, and the route will take us by Alexandria’s famous “Spite House” and historic Christ Church.
Master Naturalist volunteer guides will focus on the native trees found on the route and will explain the benefits these trees provide to the City of Alexandria. They will also offer tips on how to identify different species of trees. The route will be on Old Town Alexandria sidewalks, so be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces. Registration is required and space is limited.
The walk will take place on Saturday April 13 from 3-4:30 weather permitting. (The rain date will be Sunday April 14 from 3-4:30.) Please meet in front of the library building at 717 Queen Street, Alexandria, Virginia. Attendance is limited so please register.
