The S.C. Law Enforcement Division is searching to fill a Criminalist position in our Forensic Services - Firearms. The candidates must have a bachelor's degree, integrity, and a basic understanding of firearms, firearm safety, ammunition, shooting, and related terminology.
General Responsibility
Under general supervision, serve as a Forensic Scientist in State Law Enforcement Division's (SLED) Forensic Services Laboratory – Firearms/Toolmark Department. Receive instruction in Firearm and Toolmark Identification and in other related areas to acquire proficiency in the use of the instruments and tools necessary to conduct examinations in this discipline and complete the course of instruction. Demonstrate professionalism and willingness to work with supervisors, criminalists, support personnel, the public, and the judicial system. Investigate and participate in the detection and prosecution of crimes to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of South Carolina.
Specific Duties
Prior experience is preferred.
