September 10 is World Suicide Prevention Day, an awareness day observed every year in order to provide education and resources for suicide prevention.

Gambling has the highest suicide rate among all addictions. One in every 10 Ohio adults who gamble are currently experiencing or at risk of developing a gambling problem, and one in five problem gamblers have attempted suicide.

Scott Anderson with the Ohio Department of Mental and Addiction Services and Ohio for Responsible Gambling shares the effects of problem gambling and its correlation to mental health.
