Lori Criss, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services told ABC 6 that reaching out for that assistance is vital.

“It was brave for him to do because there’s often a stigma associated with mental health issues and for him to let people know it was a health condition and he needed to prioritize that was incredible. And I really credit coach Day for helping to change that culture for his team,” Criss said.

Miller's story is resonating across the country. Headlines detail his struggles and his strength in speaking out.

Ohio State president, Kristina Johnson tweeted, "your words and openness will empower so many."

Criss told ABC 6 that having a high profile person detail their difficulties could push others to get the assistance they desperately need.

“It’s ok not to be ok.. and it’s ok to ask for help. Mental health is something that affects any person. There’s no specific person that is exempt from having mental health challenges.” Criss told ABC 6.
