Tsianina Redfeather Blackstone, an American Indian princess who sang on the Metropolitan Opera stage and on the battlefields of France during World War I, has died at age 102.

Miss Blackstone was a concert performer who appeared on stages across the country and in Europe before retiring in the 1930s.

She appeared with New York`s Metropolitan Opera in an opera based on her life. The composer, Charles Wakefield Cadman, accompanied her on many of her tours and also wrote ”Land of Sky Blue Water,” which became Miss

Blackstone`s theme song.

IN WORLD War I, Miss Blackstone strummed a guitar and sang for troops at the front.

Born Dec. 13, 1882, on an Oklahoma Indian reservation, Miss Blackstone was descended from Indian royalty and held the titles of chief and princess, according to her niece, Wynemah Blalock.

Miss Blackstone died Thursday in Blalock`s San Diego home.

”She was lucid and sharp to the day of her death,” Blalock said.
