Did you know, the PHRA protects against discrimination based on sex? Fair housing is the law. What can housing discrimination based on sex look like? When your landlord learns that you are gay and that your roommate is your partner, your lease is not renewed. If you believe you’ve been discriminated against in your housing, call the Pennsylvania Fair Housing Line – 855-866-5718. #FairHousingFriday #lgbtqrights #equality #civilrights #socialjustice #PHRC #internationaldayagainsthomophobiatransphobia

Join us, in partnership with the Hazleton Advisory Council to the PHRC, for a virtual screening and discussion of the film "Trigger." 🔵Tomorrow, May 17th from 4:00-6:00 PM. 'Trigger' is both a call to understanding and a call to action about the roles each of us has to play in combatting the gun violence epidemic in Pennsylvania and beyond. Featuring storytellers sharing their lived experiences with gun violence and their shared search for hope with a vengeance. A father who lost his son, a trauma nurse at a city hospital, a high school principal, community activists, doctors, scholars, shooters, victims, and their families all share their stories revealing layers of hurt that extend beyond the individual, family, and first responders to entire communities in need of healing. And yet they each search for hope with a vengeance. These storytellers are committed to using horrific experiences to help others. For some, resilience and hope are key elements of survival. 'Trigger' is both a call to understanding and a call to action. Each of us has a role to play in combatting this gun violence epidemic. Directed by: Glenn Holsten. Last week, members of the PHRC staff traveled to Boston to meet the MA Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD). This visit was an opportunity for the PHRC to learn from our counterparts about best practices in ending discrimination. Thank you, MCAD for hosting us! The trip was invigorating, and we are glad to have partners like you.
