DEEP Safe Boating Course

Safe Boating I: April 11th-13th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Safe Boating II: May 2-4, 6:00pm – 9:00pm

In this 3 day class, your Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) instructor will teach you everything you need to know to obtain your Safe Boating Certificate. Topics include typical boat operation, proper water navigation, state and federal regulations, how to handle emergencies on the water, and more!
 
Successful completion of the class will qualify you to purchase a $50 Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation (CPWO) via the Online Sportsmen Licensing System. The CPWO allows individuals to operate any recreational vessel up to 65ft in length, including personal watercraft. Age restrictions apply for operating vessels with engines greater than 10 horsepower and personal watercraft.
 
This course will be taught by DEEP volunteer John Henry and will be held in the Large Draper room & Greenwoods Hall Multipurpose room.

If you do not pay the $25 registration fee in advance, you will not be able to take the course. Please do not bring payment to the class. The teacher will be unable to collect your payment and you will not be permitted to take the course.
