Fredericksburg TX Eclipse
Despite some cloudy conditions, residents and visitors enjoyed the Great North American Eclipse in Fredericksburg on Monday, April 8. The eclipse began at 12:15 p.m. and ended at 2:56 p.m. with totality running from 1:32-1:37 p.m. The public viewing area at Marktplatz had an estimated 3,000 viewers. TV News crews from San Antonio, Houston, Harlingen, Dallas and Australia documented the event, along with local media and journalists/photographers from Reuters, Associated Press and San Antonio Express News. Viewers got clear glimpses of the sun as the event progressed and the crowd erupted when totality plunged the area into darkness.The public viewing area at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park welcomed just under 1,200 cars. People from 46 states and 23 countries, including Columbia, Japan and Ethiopia. It opened at 5:30 a.m. and closed due to reaching capacity at 12:40 p.m.
