Photographing California’s Central Valley, Sierra, and beyond…

Latest Work!

I feel incredibly humbled to place first this year as the nightscape winner in the international photo competition-the Natural Landscape Photography Awards!

This photo is a time-lapse of star trials from this past summer while I was the artist-in-residence at Petrified Forest National Park. This photo was a stack of 43 photos taken at 180 seconds each with the camera in the same position.

The marker on the rock is a Native American solstice marker estimated to be from the Pueblo ll to mid Pueblo lll time frame- i.e -900-1200 CE.

It should be noted that Petrified Forest National Park is open during the day only. There are two wilderness areas in the park that allow overnight backpack camping. This photo was taken outside both those areas and with special access granted from the park because of my AIR status.
