Feed Inspection Advisory Board

Commercial Feed Regulatory Program

The Feed Inspection Advisory Board (FIAB) was created under the authority of the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) solely to represent and further the interest of the commercial feed industry as intended to serve the public interest. Board meetings are called for the membership to elect officers, receive reports, and determine the direction of FIAB and the Commercial Feed Regulatory Program. Membership is open to individuals that hold a Commercial Feed License with the California Feed Regulatory Program and are subject to inspection tonnage tax. One additional member of the board is a public member, who is a citizen and resident of this state and not a producer, shipper, or processor, nor financially interested in any producer, shipper, or processor. The term of office for board members is three years.

Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC)

FIAB also oversees several subcommittees, as needed, that are designated to focus on specific needs of the industry, including the Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC). In 2013, FIAB adopted TASC to serve as an expert scientific panel on matters concerning feed/food safety issues. TASC reviews grant proposals and advises FIAB on matters related to funding SAFE research projects.
