Are you an artist with a distinctive artistic style and a great story to tell, whose practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, creative writing, filmmaking or new forms? Don't miss this well-crafted opportunity to go deep with a team poised to polish you up and shine a spotlight on your work. 

 

Introducing a transformative new opportunity to take up Residence for 6 Months with a dynamic cohort of artistic peers in an inspired workspace. The Alexa Rose Foundation SHOW AND TELL Residency at The Common Well features a culminating Group Exhibition and Reception, as well as an Artist Talk or Workshop hosted by The Common Well, a bold new partner in our region's thriving arts ecosystem. In addition to a cash stipend of $2500-$3500, your Residency includes:

  • Exhibition best practices and support for presenting a great Artist Talk or Workshop   

  • Secure 24-hr workspace for focused artmaking

  • Customized professional mentorship, artistic critique, and coaching on your business strategy

  • Promotion to maximize visibility, artist name recognition and exposure

  • Introductions, momentum, and next steps for growing and sustaining your artistic career

Residency FAQs 

ELIGIBILITY

ARTIST PROMPTS

  • Current full-time Resident of Ada or Canyon County or an Indigenous Boise Valley tribal member who may reside elsewhere.

  • Designed for candidates working in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, creative writing, filmmaking and new forms.

  • Candidates must have no degree program assignments or obligations pending after May 31, 2024 and may not be enrolled in or teaching a summer educational program.

  • Past Alexa Rose Foundation funding does not impact eligibility. Past recipients wishing to apply must be in good standing, with 100% compliance and all final grant reports filed. 2023 grantees wishing to participate must be prepared to file final reports early. 

  • Preference may be given to candidates able to join either Session.

Session I.     May 13, 2024 - October 30, 2024

Session II.    November 1, 2024 - April 30, 2025

  • Visualize the perfect gallery show, reading, or screening with your work featured. Describe it. 

  • Define what a "supportive environment" does and does not feel like for you and the work you're doing in this season of your life.

  • As a working artist, define what ultimate success could look like for you.

Located in an old factory in Garden City, Idaho at 110 W. 31st Street two miles from Downtown Boise, The Common Well is an inspired hub for artists and entrepreneurs to share space, collaborate, network and play. It offers a vibrant contemporary art gallery, artist studios, a store, and classroom space for engaging with the public and other artists.
