A LONELY TRAIN STATION,

built in the prairie in 1887, secured Edmond as a township for the Oklahoma Land Run two years later. The settlers to Edmond prioritized the building of schools and churches, some of the first in Oklahoma Territory. The addition of Route 66 in the 1920s boosted Edmond as a major transportation route, and businesses began to cater to traveling guests. The landscape is diverse, representing both prairie land and the Cross Timbers—and the downtown area is a mix of pioneer and modern architecture.

Edmond History Museum

The Edmond History Museum operates in the historic Old Edmond Armory building, celebrating Edmond history through preservation and education. Find quality exhibits, programming for all ages, a children’s learning center, and a genealogical research library. Open Monday through Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 1-4pm. Admission is always free.
