BIO:
I’m an Emmy-nominated producer who gravitates toward projects that shine a light on overlooked communities in both documentary and narrative worlds. I’ve written and produced for networks such as National Geographic and YouTube Originals. My expertise is in documentary and branded storytelling, as well as commercial agency work and line producing. I’m fluent in multiple mediums & platforms – broadcast, social, digital, and experiential.
My accolades include an Emmy nomination for Season 1 of Vox’s Glad You Asked, on which I worked as the supervising producer. I am a 2022 recipient of the New York Foundation of the Arts NYC Women’s Fund for my documentary Laying the Last Track, which links the forgotten legacy of the Chinese railroad workers who built America to current-day racism Asian Americans like me face. In 2020, I wrote and directed I Am Not Your Model Minority, a short documentary commissioned by McCann Worldgroup that examined the Asian American experience during the early days of Covid. The film contextualizes the racism we face today through a historical and cultural lens.
I’m a problem solver and in my current work, that could mean restructuring a script or executing logistics to shoot in rural France.
My personal projects focus on BIPOC & women’s issues. Prior to Laying the Last Track, I worked on She Is Syria, an IFP-sponsored documentary that tells the story of 3 Syrian women living in exile in Europe. In 2016, I worked with Global Citizen to bring Olympic Refugee Team swimmer Yusra Mardini and activist Sarah Mardini to speak at the United Nations General Assembly. She Is Syria video content & photo essays have been featured in The New York Post, Marie Claire, Refinery29, Brooklyn Live TV, and the Berlin Unframed Festival.
I currently live in Brooklyn, NY with my son and two chihuahua mixes, which might give you an idea of how I manage (and yes, enjoy) organizing chaos.
