Plano fire truck damaged in early morning accident

Plano (WBAP/KLIF) – A Plano fire truck was damaged early Sunday morning when it was hit by a vehicle while blocking traffic on the Central Expressway to protect an accident scene. The ladder truck was parked across a traffic lane with all of its emergency lights on when it was hit shortly after 2:00 am. One firefighter was injured, but not seriously. The driver of the car that hit the truck had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters, and is hospitalized with serious injuries. Fire trucks are often used to block oncoming traffic on freeways to protect emergency workers at accident scenes.
