We all make goals at the beginning of a new year: Read more, eat less dessert, hit the gym. This year Plano Parks and Recreation is helping us meet our fitness goals by offering free fitness classes for everyone at Rec Fest.

“We know it can be hard to stick to those New Year’s resolutions, so we’re here to help,” said Susie Hergenrader, Recreation Services Manager. “Our Rec Fest series is all about encouraging each other to lead healthier lives and build a stronger, more connected community.”

Plano Parks and Recreation will host a series of open house events to support the City of Plano in its participation in the Its Time Texas! Community Challenge health initiative. The community challenge is a statewide competition that runs Jan. 6 – Mar. 1, inspiring people across Texas to choose healthy activities in support of a healthier community.

The Rec Fest series will offer completely free – yes, even for non-members! – classes, fitness demonstrations and on-site personal trainers as well as a variety of health screenings and nutritional information.
