Dozens of people displaced after Plano apartment fire

A blaze that started on the second floor damaged 11 units in the building.

Dozens of residents were displaced after a fire heavily damaged a Plano apartment complex Monday night.

The blaze broke out around 8:45 p.m. in The Parker Apartments in the 4700 block of Charles Place, officials said. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke in the parking lot and saw flames shooting through the roof of the complex.

The fire, which started on the second floor, reached the attic and burned through the roof, damaging 11 units, fire officials said. It took firefighters about 70 minutes to bring it under control.

Between 40 and 50 people were displaced and were getting help from the American Red Cross.
