The Eastwood football team is back from their game against Plano High School and although the game almost did not happen due to safety concerns it was an experience both teams will never forget.

Plano High School is where the El Paso shooter graduated, which as you can imagine caused a lot of tension. The game was even canceled for a short period of time.

The schools were linked by the tragedy of the El Paso Walmart shooting.

Both teams came together to chalk up a "win over hate.”

"As soon as I heard they were going to cancel it, I was kind of mad. Because I just wanted to play, especially for the city.," said Nathan Carranza quarterback for Eastwood High School.

"We were honestly disappointed; our coaches were scrambling to look for a game," said Christian Castaneda another quarterback from from Eastwood.

As the team unloaded after a long trip back from Frisco, Texas, the experience playing at the Dallas Cowboys' practice stadium is starting to sink in.

The team played for give tribute to the El Paso shooting and a former teammate who passed away before the game.

Texas Strong is what the players showed and now forever the two teams will be united for choosing love.

"As soon as I walked through those doors for the stadium, I got too excited. Especially because I’m a hard core cowboys fan..meeting Jerry Jones, that brightened my day," said Carranza. "As soon as I heard let’s give a prayer for Eddie, I started bawling out. I’m pretty sure he heard me because I was crying pretty loud. As soon as he heard me, he held my hand and said it’s going to be OK brother, I’m sorry for your loss, let’s just play for him.”

“It’s pretty cool for them to show the love for El Paso, for Eastwood, and to show that they care for us when we need healing," said Castaneda.
