DeKalb to Host Spring Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event

DECATUR, Ga. – The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a biannual household hazardous waste recycling event Saturday, March 16, from 8 a.m. – noon, at the Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station, 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, GA 30032.

Hazardous materials, such as paint and paint-related products, aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals and artist supplies,

will be accepted. Agricultural waste, ammunition, pharmaceuticals, radioactive materials, biohazardous and biomedical waste will not be accepted. Participants will be limited to 10 gallons of paint per vehicle.

Sponsored by the DeKalb County Sanitation Division, in partnership with MXI Environmental Services LLC, the event offers an opportunity for residents to properly dispose of dangerous household chemicals.

Event participation is free and only open to DeKalb County residents. Proper identification to prove DeKalb County residency may be requested.
