Quang Ninh suspends tourism activities from mid-May 6

VGP – The northern province of Quang Ninh has cancelled all tourism activities at Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and islands since 12:00 am on May 6 for fears of COVID-19 transmissions.

The Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee requested that people strictly comply with the "5K" message when going to public squares, parks, and gardens.

Quang Ninh has planned to isolate and collect samples of all returnees from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi's Dong Anh District from April 10 to May 5 after dozens of COVID-19 cases have been found there.

On May 3, the local authorities ordered the six-star Ambassador Cruise with 122 passengers and 60 crew members to go ashore for isolation after a galley worker was found to have come into close contact with a COVID-19  patient in Ha Nam Province.

One day latter the worker, the rest of the crew and the passengers tested negative for the virus.

All of them left the ship and were sent to various quarantine facilities in Quang Ninh.

Earlier, Quang Ninh - home to the world heritage Ha Long Bay - had planned to organize 88 events and programs to promote local tourism, including 35 at provincial level and 53 at district and communal levels.

In the first phase until May, the locality was scheduled to organize 31 events and programs, 15 at provincial and 16 at local level, with a highlight being the Ha Long Culture-Tourism Week 2021.

In the second phase from June to the end of the year, the province planned to hold 57 events and program, with highlights being the National Sea Kite Festival 2021, the Yen Tu – returning to Buddhism land in autumn 2021, and a Carnival program in winter 2021./.
