Gov’t sets goal to inoculate vaccines to all workers by end of August

Speaking at the meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Friday, Vu urged local authorities and businesses to roll up sleeves and work together to ensure safe production.

Only factories that meet requirements on COVID-19 prevention and control shall be allowed to operate, stressed Vu, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee.

He also tasked localities to actively survey areas where field hospitals would be set up in order to prepare best possible for future surge of COVID-19 cases linked to outbreaks in industrial parks.

All localities, especially those have not been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, must stand ready to take actions if a COVID-19 outbreak occurs at an industrial park, Vu ordered.

Lessons learnt from Bac Giang – the current biggest COVID-19 hotspot in Viet Nam – show that the pandemic would spread quickly at industrial parks as most of factories located there are closed and tight working spaces.

Once an outbreak appears, contract-tracing and large-scale testing must be as quick as possible to collect right input data for decision making process.

Vu emphasized the localities must strive to prevent the virus from spreading to industrial parks and require all people working at industrial parks to make health declaration.

As of 6:13 pm on June 11, Viet Nam’s national COVID-19 patient tally reached 9,980, including 6,780 community infection cases recorded in 39 cities and provinces since April 27, 2021.

Of the national count, 3,804 patients have recovered and exited hospitals while the death toll stood at 57, according to the Ministry of Health./.
