Michigan Cares for Tourism 2024

This year we’ve created a whole season of experiences to help you find the perfect opportunity for you and your team. Whether you are new to Michigan’s tourism industry and hoping to grow your network or a seasoned professional interested in sharing your expertise, 2024 will bring us all together to build a better Michigan through hard work, fun, and educational experiences that help us deliver on the Pure Michigan promise.

May 20 – Belle Isle, Detroit, Michigan

Blending several goals of Michigan Cares for Tourism, teams of industry professionals will spend the morning volunteering alongside 11th grade students from charter schools across Detroit on more than 25 park projects, then have an industry-only afternoon to close out the work, followed by a Detroit-centric reception. Participants will learn more about this unique park and all of its hidden treasures while helping to prepare it for the summer season. Register today and inspire the next generation of tourism professionals.

June 21 Virtual Lunch & Learn

Join the Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry program staff for a discussion of ways to leverage your community’s green infrastructure to build vibrant, beautiful and sustainable places for people to live, work and play. Hear about how diverse, healthy and extensive urban and community forests are being used to enhance quality of life, fight climate change, and raise a community’s visibility as stewards of natural resources through participation in programs like Tree City USA. Various community examples and resources will be shared to help your community tap into the green that keeps your community growing.

September 2024 – Statewide Adopt-A-Forest

Create your own Michigan Cares experience by putting together a team to give back to a community with an Adopt-a-Forest clean-up day. Pick a site in your community or take a trip to visit somewhere new! By participating in Adopt-a-Forest you are keeping wildlife safe, removing blight from communities, and protecting the public lands that belong to us all. Pick a site or region that works for you and each registered team will be sent materials, including official MC4T team shirts, in time for your event! This is a great employee engagement and team-building option for those who want to build a stronger network within your own team.

Be the Impact

Michigan Cares for Tourism (registered 501(c)(3) non-profit) is a 100% volunteer, 100% give-back partnership where tourism professionals come together to help restore Michigan’s historic, cultural and natural attractions, learn about a Michigan tourism destination, and network across our industry segments to ultimately enhance the visitor experience, and be more engaged professionals.

Together in September 2023, more than 40 donor organizations and 120 volunteers travel to the Porcupine Mountains to complete one day of service, completing over 17 projects throughout the park.

What We Do

As a 100% volunteer, 100% give back organization, we depend on donations from our tourism industry supporters and organizations who align with our mission to provide lasting legacies to our cultural and historical sites around Michigan. Please consider donating to our organization and support our work around Michigan.
