Vice President Kamala Harris had a wonderful trip to Singapore and was honored to call on President Halimah Yacob and meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss strengthening the U.S.-Singapore relationship and expanding the partnership in new areas such as cyber security and climate cooperation. The United States and Singapore are enduring strategic partners and share a strong tradition of working together to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in Southeast Asia and beyond. Over the past 55 years of diplomatic relations, our two countries have developed deep economic, people to people, and security ties. Vice President Harris also delivered a foreign policy speech on the Indo-Pacific Region, reaffirming U.S. commitment to a vision of peace and stability, freedom of navigation, unimpeded commerce, advancing human rights, a commitment to the international rules-based order, and the recognition that our common interests are not zero-sum. Vice President Harris has departed for Vietnam for the second leg of her Southeast Asia trip from August 24 to August 26. Tomorrow, Vice President Harris will launch a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Regional Office in Hanoi at 3:30pm Vietnam Time/4:30pm Singapore Time.
