This training will certify you in two evidence-informed interventions: Psychological First Aid (PFA) and Post-Traumatic Stress Management (PTSM). PFA is a one-to-one approach for stabilizing an individual in distress and connecting them to support and safety. PTSM is a series of community and group level interventions that work to reduce stress, promote social connection and healthy coping, and identify community members who may benefit from additional support. The training will also cover trauma, the human stress response, the importance of trauma response networks, as well as how to take care of yourself while serving your community.
This training is open to any community member in Philadelphia who is active in their community and has the trust of their community. Community can include blocks, neighborhoods, rec centers, workplaces, schools, libraries, community advisory boards, organizations, etc.
