If you owe arrears on your child support case, you may have been submitted for tax offset. Arrears are certified for offset with both the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Minnesota Department of Revenue (DOR).

If your federal and/or state tax refund has been intercepted resulting in an overpayment, the overpaid amount will be refunded after required hold times expire. The Child Support Division (CSD) must refund overpayments from a MN state tax intercept to MN DOR. CSD will refund overpayments from a federal tax intercept to you unless the IRS directs CSD otherwise. To find out more about the process and required hold times please visit the following sites:
